Introduction: Grey wagtails (Motacilla cinerea) breed along rivers and streams flanked by tall vegetation. Observations can be made around various types of permanent water bodies.
Distribution: Vagrant to Namibia, but observations have been recorded near Walvis Bay, Henties Bay, Windhoek and the far eastern Caprivi Strip.
Diet: Little is known of the feeding habits of this species. Searches for insects on surface water.
Description: A slender, long-tailed wagtail with yellow-green rump and upper tail coverts. Back, crown, nape, mantle and lesser coverts grey. Often confused with the yellow wagtail which has a much shorter tail.
Breeding: Extralimital.
Size: 18cm.
