Fun Fact: Savannah woodland, riverine closed-canopy woodlands, orchards and gardens are the preferred habitat of the Eurasian golden oriole.

Introduction: Savannah woodland, riverine closed-canopy woodlands, orchards and gardens are the preferred habitat of the Eurasian golden oriole (Oriolus oriolus). They are known to congregate in small groups at fruiting trees. Plunge-dives from perches to bathe.

Distribution: Widespread in most of Namibia less for most of the southern region. Observed in Epupa Falls, Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip), Etosha National Park.

Diet: Searches the tree-canopy for insects and fruit such as forest fig, rough-leaved Shepherds-tree and Bushveld saffron.

Description: Bright yellow head and body, with a broad, black loral stripe extending a short distance behind the eye. Black flight feathers, crimson eyes, dark pink bill and grey legs and feet.

Breeding: Extralimital.

Size: 22cm.

Weight: 60g.
