Distribution: Etosha, Caprivi, central Namibia including Windhoek.

Diet: Forages whilst walking at water's edge, on mud or floating water lilies for small beetles, insects, seeds and flowers of reeds and termites.

Description: Medium-sized, long-winged rail with a short, stout bill. Gallinula is Latin for 'a small hen.'

Breeding: Between 4 and 9 eggs are laid in a shallow cup built of bent over grass.

Size: 23cm.

Weight: 150g.
