Holidays

We love our public holidays.

We love our public holidays and one thing is guaranteed, if its a public holiday no one will be working. Supermarkets do open on most public holidays (except Christmas and Easter), but you can expect many restaurants and other services to be closed. The good news is that the travel industry goes on almost as usual.

Here is a list of public holidays in Namibia:

Independence Day - 21 March

New Years Day - 1 January
Good Friday - April
Easter Sunday - April
Easter Monday - April
Ascension Day - 21 May
Workers Day - 1 May
Cassinga Day - 4 May
Africa Day - 25 May
Heroes' Day - 26 August
Human Rights Day - 10 December
Christmas Day - 25 December
Family Day - 26 December

If the public holiday falls on a Sunday the following Monday is a holiday. If elections are been held or the president is in an unusually good mood there may be a few additional holidays.

"I once wanted to become an atheist, but I gave up - they have no holidays.", Henny Youngman
