Food

Namibians are quite adventurous when it comes to their food.

What is Namibia famous for?

Namibians have quite a rich pallette and adventurous taste when it comes to food.  We do have a culture of 'meat eaters' and you will get the occassional 'chicken is a vegetable' comment.  In rural areas meat often comes served with a porridge like mixture called mahangu or pap (or something else depending on where you are).

Many restaurants & most lodges in Namibia offer a wider range of foodstuffs and some even cater for vegetarians and vegans.

The favourite way of preparing meat in Namibia is the braai (barbecue) and this ritual is obeyed in the majority of households at Saturday and Sunday socials.
