Diverse Namibia is a 10 day safari which showcases some of the Namibia's most iconic wilderness destinations. Explore desert, dunes and plains and its wildlife along lesser driven paths whilst staying in a range of exclusive accommodation in private reserves and concessions. You will be accompanied by highly skilled and qualified professional guides throughout your safari who have extensive knowledge of the nature, history and culture of regions you will visit. Many of them are also accomplished photographers, only too willing to assist you with your wildlife photography.

Begin with a trip to climb the towering red dunes and discover the secrets of the extraordinary life of Sossusvlei. Continue through the Namib Desert to the seaside resort of Swakopmund and the marine life and activities at Walvis Bay. Rugged Damaraland offers much; desert-adapted elephant and unrivaled geographical features and ancient rock engravings. The main draw-card for many is Namibia's number one tourist destination Etosha National Park with wildlife drama and interaction unfolding from sunrise way past sunset on the plains and at the waterholes.

Integrated into your tour are a number of activities such as game drives, scenic walks and water-borne excursions. The majority of your road trips will be on gravel roads interspersed with a number of welcome comfort and refreshment breaks, often taking in local attractions. Photographic opportunities will abound en-route, at your accommodation, by day and at night.

Small groups and knowledgeable guides define this exclusive safari. Accommodation is on several private concession areas and camps and highlights include Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and the Etosha National Park.

Day 1-2

Kulala Desert Lodge

Windhoek International Airport / Accommodation - Kulala Wilderness Reserve

You will be met by your guide at Windhoek International Airport or picked up at your accommodation in Windhoek. A scenic drive follows through the picturesque Khomas Hochland Mountains towards the Namib Desert. Tonights accommodation is situated on the privately owner Kulala Wilderness Reserve here ostrich, springbok, oryx, black-backed jackal, bat-eared fox and Cape fox can all be observed. Activities include day and night scenic drives and walks. An early morning entry through private gates ensures the perfect start to ... your Sossusvlei excursion, especially good for those outstanding photographic opportunities. Overnight in luxury dome tents. Driving distance: 340 kilometers. Duration: 5 hours.

Day 3-4

Hansa Hotel

Kulala Reserve - Swakopmund

Another early start driving through meandering gravel roads to the Kuiseb Canyon which lead out onto expansive gravel plains. Later you will arrive at the port of Walvis Bay. A short drive north follows to Namibia's premier seaside resort of Swakopmund. Once you have settled into your rooms there will be some leisure time to explore this quaint town. The public swimming pool, lighthouse, museum, Kristall Galerie, not to mention a fine array of decent restaurants are only a short ... walk from your hotel. Driving distance: 370 kilometers. Duration: 5/6 hours. On day 4 you can explore the beautiful bay and coastline of the Atlantic Ocean on a Dolphin and Seal catamaran cruise which departs from Walvis Bay. Opportunities arise to spot dolphin, seals, whales and perhaps turtles, pelicans, Cape fur seal and flamingos. The cruise also takes in the Oyster Platforms and the Pelican Point Lighthouse. Tuck into a private seafood lunch before returning to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 5-6

Damaraland Camp

Swakopmund - Damaraland

Your road trip continues into the diverse and rugged Damaraland with a lunch stop west of the Brandberg Mountain at Ugab Save The Rhino Trust (SRT). The largest concentration of free roaming black rhino (outside of a national park) can be found in this region as well healthy numbers of desert-adapted elephant. The area also boasts other desert-adapted flora and fauna and stunning geological formations. Other wildlife also includes Hartmann's mountain zebra, giraffe, oryx, springbok, kudu and at times cheetah. ... Activities range from day and night nature walks, day nature drives exploring dry riverbeds, hills and mountains. You will also visit the world-famous rock engravings at Twyfelfontein. Overnight in well-appointed en-suite luxury tents, pitched on wooden platforms. Driving distance: 320 kilometers. Duration: 8 hours.

Day 7-9

Ongava Tented Camp

Damaraland - Etosha National Park

Today's road trip heads to the boundary of Etosha Park. Andersson's Camp is situated on the private Ongava Reserve (which borders on Etosha) and provides the perfect base to explore the reserve and the national park as both are teeming with wildlife. Ongava is home to an impressive black and white rhino population, black-faced impala as well as over 340 bird species. Game sightings in this area of Etosha includes elephant, lion, black rhino, brown and spotted hyena and plains ... game such as blue wildebeest, kudu, oryx, springbok and Burchell's zebra. Birds are also plentiful. Your en-suite accommodation is elevated on wooden decks which enhances your views of the productive waterhole on the reserve. Driving distance: 330 kilometers. Duration: 5 hours.

Day 10

Etosha To Windhoek

After breakfast there is a drive of some 420 kilometers on your return journey back to the capital city. Your scheduled arrival time in Windhoek is 13h00. Your Diverse Namibian adventure has now drawn to a close.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL SAFARI NOTES

Private Safari Options:

Tailored Explorations are available on flexible dates, accommodation and itineraries, for groups of up to eight guests. These are also ideal for families or for small groups from four guests.

Exclusive Experience:

Most areas in which this safari travels are private concessions, with Adventurer Camps being for the sole use of safari guests - it is possible there will be guests from other safaris at the Adventure Camps.
An Adventurer Camp (Kulala Adventurer Camp And Damaraland Adventurer Camp):
3metre x3metre (9.84feet x 9.84feet) dome tents (maximum of two guests per tent) on a slightly raised wooden platform, covered in shade cloth, which are semi-permanent. The dome tents are well ventilated with a mini veranda. Wooden beds with mattress and crisp linen, duvets and pillows and towels and amenities (soap, shower gel and conditioning shampoo) are provided.
In addition, there is a coir mat (inside) and a 12v reading light. The tents are large enough to stand in and move easily. The camps aim to provide simple camping comfort that is serviced. Hurricane lanterns and a good campfire light up the evening camp. Delicious meals are prepared around the campfire by, creating a great atmosphere. The dining area is under the stars to ensure the `camping wilderness feel`. A full dining table, director chairs and bush style stainless steel place settings and drinks glasses are set up to accentuate simple serviced comfort in pure wild areas. The bathrooms will be en-suite with the entrance to the canvas-wrap open air bathroom (zip door) through the rear of tent. There is an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet, basin and shower - with hot and cold running water available whenever guests require it.

International Air Connection Onto The Safari:

If arrival is planned for the day of the safari departure, please ensure that this is with the earliest possible international flight arrival, before 10h00. Arrival on a later flight may necessitate additional road or air transfers (as the main group`s departure for the first camp/lodge will already have taken place), subject to extra cost. Please note that if overnighting in Windhoek on the night before the safari, you will be met by the guide at the hotel. If arriving by flight on the day the safari commences, you will be met at the airport.

International Air Connections Leaving The Safari:

Please ensure that your departure flight is booked for after 15h30 from Windhoek. For earlier international departure flights, an additional transfer will be required to arrive for this connection, subject to extra cost.

Flashlights/ Torches:

Please ensure that a compact LED flashlight is brought on safari, with spare batteries. Head lamps are also useful.

Camera Battery Charging Facilities:

Please note that a 12V cigarette lighter adapter will be required (that is compatible with camera make) on this safari for charging batteries while on game drive or transfer drives. 110/220V outlets are available at the permanent camps.
