Horse Riding | Windhoek

A variety of equestrian persuits in the hills around Windhoek. With everthing from horse rides by the hour to overnight rides there is something to cater for everyone, no matter what their level of riding expertise. All rides start at Elisenhem Guest Farm outside of Windhoek, riders can make their own way to the starting point, or a transfer can be arranged (transfers are free for groups of 3 or more riders)

Champagne Breakfast Rides

For the more adventurous and experienced rider a trip into the mountains is be a unforgettable experieince. Breakfast is served on a mountaintop with incredible views over the surrounding vistas and a panoramic view Windhoek.

Sundowner Rides

A gentle afternoon guided horse ride through the hills, valleys and riverbeds of the farm. Watch the mountains light up with the setting sun whilst sipping the drink of your choice and sampling the snacks on offer. An evening braai (BBQ) can be arranged for those wishing to extend their tour.

Day Ride

A day’s horse riding deep into the mountains, spotting game along the way and experiencing the awesome scenery and serenity of your surroundings. A picnic lunch is carried en route.

Riding By The Hour

Accompanied, guided rides. The experience level of the riders will determine the pace of the ride. All levels of riding ability catered for.

Overnight Rides

Arranged with your requirements in mind, these can include one or two (or perhaps even more) nights. e.g. One night excursion: Have an early start from Elisenheim Guest Farm with a 5 or 6 hour ride through the mountains to a neighbouring lodge, relax there for the afternoon, perhaps joining in on one of their afternoon activities (non inclusive). Have dinner and overnight at the lodge. After breakfast at the lodge another picnic ride back to Elisenheim the following day.

Includes:

  • Hard helmets will be provided and are strongly recommended
  • Meals & drinks (on specific trips)

What To Bring:

  • Long, comfortable (not too tight!) trousers or leggings.
  • Sensible closed shoes with a small heel and non-slip sole.
  • Long sleeved cotton shirt to protect from the sun.
  • Sun block and lipsalve are recommended.

  • All riders will be required to sign an indemnity form prior to riding.
