The remote north-east of Namibia has become even easier to travel around since this week. The private airline Westair Aviation and the accommodation group Gondwana Collection Namibia are jointly offering flights within the Zambezi region.
To this end, they have launched the Fly-in Zambezi Charter Service. This allows travellers to hop from lodge to lodge in the Zambezi region. Charter flights to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Maun on the Okavango Delta in Botswana are also available. In addition, there are scheduled flights between Windhoek and Katima Mulilo operated by Westair subsidiary FlyNamibia.
The Fly-in Zambezi Charter Service is a joint venture between Westair and Gondwana, with both companies holding equal shares. Westair is handling the operations. The accommodation booking office Gondwana Travel Centre is responsible for processing bookings.
Travellers to Namibia can choose from three scheduled flights per week. If none of these suit your plans, you can also book a private charter flight. The flights save you long car journeys and allow you to experience the landscape, flora and fauna from a bird's eye view.
A Cessna Grand Caravan is used for lodge hopping in the Zambezi region. It is based in Katima Mulilo and can accommodate four to eight passengers. More information can be found in the announcement on the Gondwana Collection Namibia website.
