Safety is one of the most important criteria for holidaymakers when choosing a destination for their next trip. Experts from the International SOS organisation have once again rated Namibia as being as safe as almost anywhere else in Europe this year.

Just like a year ago, Namibia appears in yellow on the Travel Risk Map  from International SOS. According to the map legend, countries marked in yellow are characterised by a low security risk. The rate of violent crime is said to be low.

The countries in question have efficient security and emergency services as well as good infrastructure. According to International SOS, travellers need hardly expect any disruptions due to strikes or traffic disruptions in these countries.

The security experts see Namibia in the same category as most European countries, Australia or the USA. The same applies to Namibia's neighbours Botswana and Zambia. South Africa, on the other hand, remains orange-brown. According to International SOS, crime has even increased in Johannesburg and Durban.

Namibia's ranking in the area of medical care has also not changed compared to the previous year. There are infectious diseases such as malaria in some areas. However, reliable emergency services and good medical care are available.

According to the International SOS Group, its assessments are based on around 12,000 experts worldwide. Its risk management services are aimed at internationally active companies and organisations.
