Qatar Airways will not fly to Windhoek during the low season. This was announced by the airline to the travel industry at the end of last week. According to the announcement, all flights between Doha and Windhoek will be cancelled from and including 23 November 2023 up to and including 30 March 2024.
The airline refers to "operational reasons". However, the background may also be the announcement by Eurowings Discover (discover airlines) to maintain its ten flights a week on the Frankfurt - Windhoek route during the (European) winter.
Ethiopean Airlines, which connects Europe with Namibia via Addis Ababa seven times a week, is also a strong competitor. In addition, there are good connections to Namibia via Johannesburg – with the private Namibian airline FlyNamibia and its South African partner Airlink.
Qatar Airways has been offering three flights a week since the end of June 2022.
