Namibia On Tour In Europe And China

25 Sep 2024

Paris, Utrecht, Frankfurt and Istanbul – these were the stops on the 'Meet Namibia' roadshow organised by the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) at the beginning of September. The declared aim: to remind partners in the travel industry in key markets of Namibia as a travel destination and familiarise them with the country.

France, Holland and Germany are among the most important markets outside of Africa. Turkey was added – also in view of the repeatedly announced direct flights from Turkish Airways to Windhoek. Another new feature of the 'Meet Namibia' roadshow was the presence of the Namibian embassies in the respective countries.

At the end of November, the British capital will be the starting point of a 'Meet Namibia' roadshow through the United Kingdom, with further stops in Manchester and Edinburgh.

In October, Namibia will present itself at the three-day 'TTG Travel Experience' trade fair in Rimini, Italy, and at the beginning of December at the 'Travel News Market' in Stockholm.

The NTB is also putting out feelers to China: At the end of October, it will tour from Beijing via Chengdu to Shanghai. With its growing middle class, which is increasingly interested in nature, China is a travel market with huge growth potential for Namibia.

Namibia also present in the media

Namibia also remains visible to consumers in Europe. In June, two-star chef Tim Raue travelled to and through Namibia with a film crew to film his series 'Herr Raue reist' on Magenta TV.

The cross-promotion with tyre brand Falken Tyre Europe and tour operator Journaway kicked off at the beginning of June. The campaign will run until the end of October. It invites car fans in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Greece to apply for the seven-day 'Falken Adventure Camp Namibia' next February.

In July, the watch brand Seiko and Land Rover Experience set off on a joint video and photo shooting tour through Namibia. The resulting footage will run on all channels of the partners involved from November. The videos and photos are expected to generate enthusiasm for Seiko watches, Land Rover's 'Defender' and a country that has plenty of time and offers off-road fans just as many challenges.
