Namibia holidaymakers can now take a quick detour to the Okavango Delta and the Zambezi region. The private Namibian airline FlyNamibia launched its new route from Windhoek via Maun on the Okavango Delta to Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi region on Wednesday.
The first aircraft on this new flight was greeted at Maun International Airport in Botswana by two fire engines with the obligatory water shower. The flight to Maun takes one hour. After a one-hour layover, the flight continues to Katima Mulilo. FlyNamibia operates the new route on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Air Botswana has also added the route Windhoek - Maun to its flight schedule. Its new Windhoek - Kasane flight should take you to the Zambezi River in only about an hour.
According to the airline's circular email to the travel industry dated 26 June 2024, the flights can be booked from 1 July. However, until today, it was not possible to enter Windhoek as a destination or departure point on the website.
