Daily from Frankfurt directly to Windhoek - that's what the German airline, Eurowings Discover is offering from next week Monday. The Lufthansa subsidiary is increasing the number of its weekly flights from five to seven for its summer flight schedule. For the high season from July to September, it will be adding three flights, so that there are ten flights a week.
The reason given by the Lufthansa Group's Managing Director for Southern and East Africa, André Schultz, was the increased demand. The Frankfurt - Windhoek route is one of Eurowings Discover's best-booked connections worldwide, he said.
Starting next week, Windhoek will also be a stopover on the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday flights - on the way to VicFalls. Flight number 4Y 138 departs Frankfurt at 9.55 pm in the evening and lands at Hosea Kutako International Airport near Windhoek at 8 am in the morning.
The plane takes off again in the morning and touches down in VicFalls at noon. In the late afternoon, the plane returns to Windhoek (flight 4Y 139) - in time for the return flight to Frankfurt in the evening.
The first flight on the new route to the famous Victoria Falls on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe will take place next Tuesday, 29 March. As Eurowings Discover explained today on request, it will also be possible to book the Windhoek - VicFalls leg separately from mid-April.
The remaining four direct flights per week from Frankfurt to Windhoek will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays (flight numbers 4Y 132 and 4Y 133 respectively). Departure and arrival times will vary slightly.
Even twice a day to Namibia
From 2 July, Eurowings Discover will increase the number of weekly flights from seven to ten. This means that Namibia fans will have two flights a week, to the country of their dreams, on three days. From 11 September, at the end of the summer holiday period in Germany, Eurowings will again operate the Frankfurt - Windhoek route seven times a week.
