Introduction: Manx shearwaters (Puffinus puffinus) inhabit the open ocean, specifically the continental shelf, often observed close inshore. Roosting and feeding companions include other shearwaters, notably sooty shearwaters. This species do follow ships, but well back in the wake.
Distribution: Common off the coastal waters of Namibia.
Diet: Takes mainly pelagic fish including anchovies. Also scavenges offal from fishing vessels.
Description: Proficient divers due to flattened tarsi and smaller wings.
Breeding: Breeds at temperate oceanic islands.
Size: 35cm.
Weight: 400g.
Wingspan: 85cm.
