Internet

In these days of Facebook, Email and Twitter it seems no-one can stand to be without an internet connection for more than a few hours. We would like to advise you that a few weeks holiday without an internet connection will be good for your soul, but we won't because that would be very hypocritical.

The good news is that more and more Namibian accommodation establishments are starting to offer some form of connectivity for their guests (but this is by no means guaranteed). In the major center's you can expect to find an internet cafe or two, while Windhoek & Swakopmund have several coffee shops and cafe's offering WiFi Hotspots.

Namibia has a pretty reliable 3G system and was one of the first countries in the world to roll out 4G (although this is still only available in major centers). Local sim cards can be purchased at both data and voice bundles can be purchased (don't tell anyone but if you are sensible and book your self drive safari around Namibia with us at The Cardboard Box Travel Shop you will receive a free sim card, and other goodies in your info pack when you arrive in the country). In many places connections are unreliable and very slow so don't expect much and you may be pleasantly surprised.
