Rainbow River Lodge lies on the banks of the Okavango River. Popa Falls is the closest main attraction while both Mahango and Bwabwata National Parks are within 10kms of the lodge, making this a great destination for wildlife viewing and photography. They offer comfortable accommodation at affordable prices combined with scenic river cruises. Individual travellers, families and the business community are welcome here. The nearby small towns of Divundu and Bagani offer basic refuelling and restocking services.
The main thatched building is the focus for hospitality and includes the restaurant and bar. Other facilities include internet access, laundry service, braai area, and communal Mnet and satellite TV. Chill and relax in the lovely garden and do a spot of birding at the same time. The swimming pool offers a welcome respite from the hot afternoon sunshine. Many guests head to the wooden decking. Not only does it overlooks the going's on of the river, but is an ideal venue to exchange travel stories and adventures with fellow travellers.
Accommodation is in 20 semi-luxury chalets or separated camping for overlander trucks and self drive guests.
The chalets - have en-suite bathrooms, (shower/toilet/washbasin) roof fans, 2 x single beds, mosquito nets and furnished with locally carved, hand-made furniture.
The campsites - have 24 hour electricity, ablution with hot water and own braai/bbq area on grass right next to the Kavango river.
Activities include half and full-day game drives to Mahango National Park, boat trips to Popa Falls (where hippo and crocodiles can be easily spotted,) early morning and sundowner boat cruises, river Mokoro trips, freshwater fishing, canoing/kayaking, guided walks and a guided village tour to visit the Mbukushu people.
84 bird species have been recorded in and around Rainbow River Lodge, so camera's and binoculars at the ready! 4 of the big 5 can be seen in the National Parks.
English, Dutch, German and Afrikaans are spoken here.
