Chobe River Camp is located only 4km from the Ngoma Border Post between Botswana and Namibia, a much quieter border post to the busier one at Kasane. This closeness to the world famous Chobe National Park also cannot pass unnoticed as huge concentrations of elephant roam freely in the park. This location provides an ideal base before travelling further onto Victoria Falls, Bwabwata Park, the Okavango Delta and many other northern Namibian highlights.
The breathtaking scenery and privacy combine dramatically with tall mopane woodlands, floodplains fringed with majestic baobab trees, papyrus and water-lily lined waterways and deep lagoons hosting spectacular wildlife interaction. Wildlife enthusiasts will also delight in the prospect at possible sightings of puku and Chobe bushbuck, very rare animals that reside here.
The highlight of the main building is to observe the activity of the immediate floodplains from private lounge decks and huge comfortable couches, all from elevated decking. Guests can watch the Chobe River Camp chefs prepare their meals in their open, interactive kitchen. Tasty meals are served in the dining room, itself with magnificent views. Those who prefer to sit outside can enjoy the warmth of an inviting fire in the open pit, another superb dining option. Electricity is supplied throughout by a generator and solar panels.
Enjoy your overnight stay at Chobe River Camp in one of 20 well-ventilated Tented Chalets. Constructed from a canvas/mopane timber combination, each unit affords magnificent views across spectacular Chobe River scenery from private decks. Every chalet is solar powered with en-suite bathrooms and shower/flush toilets and mosquito nets fitted over comfortable beds as standard. An additional bonus is the location, situated right on the river front. Exciting views of elephants grazing and sometimes bathing are common. Many guests comment on the sheer excitement of hearing and seeing lions drinking in the river nearby and hyenas calling with their familiar hair raising chants as well.
Canadian Canoe: The Canadian canoe is wide and open, and guests typically paddle themselves, unlike the dug-out traditional makoro. Canoe safaris offer a sense of excitement, adventure, and engagement with nature that cannot be rivaled. Canoe safaris are conducted in two-person Canadian canoes, with an experienced guide. There are a few islands on the river where you can stop for refreshments and game viewing. Although canoe safaris are an adventure activity, it does not require above average levels of physical fitness. Participants on a canoe safari can expect to frequently encounter Elephants, Buffalo, Zebra and a variety of antelope species such as Letchwe, Kudu, Roan and Waterbuck as they come to the water to drink and bathe. Half day & full day canoing is available
Boat Cruise (High Water Season): a leisurely cruise on the Chobe River, the flood plains and the banks of the Chobe National Park, which is particularly well known for its large herds of elephant and buffalo. There is a choice of either a half day cruise (morning or afternoon departures) or a full day cruise.
Walking Trail: for a true close to nature experience, nothing competes with a leisurely stroll along the lagoons of Chobe River and the flood plains; over the back waters and back to the lodge again.

Pleasant location, comfortable tents. On the two nights, food good 1st night when 10 French guests bused in, however second night's meal inedible. Staff and owner friendly and helpful.
The campsite was beautiful next to the river. The owner was very friendly but the manager on te campsite unfortunately was not realy open for questions. At night we had some rhino's almost on the campsite which was a bit scaring....
