Urban camp

Urban Camp offers an affordable soft adventure camping experience in Eros, one of Windhoek's more upmarket suburbs. Many self-drive tours begin and end their Namibian holiday here. The close vicinity to banks, supermarkets, doctor's surgeries, restaurants, bars, cafes and curios stalls is also a major drawcard when staying at Urban Camp. The legendary Joe's Beerhouse is just a short 5 minute drive away. Many day trips and activities in and around Windhoek can be arranged in advance. Well-placed tents and campsites are the ideal place to load up your rental vehicle before your eagerly awaited vacation.

Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, is located in a basin between the Khomas Highland, Auas and Eros Mountains. The central geographical location of the city has obvious benefits when it comes to governing a country the size of Namibia, not to mention an ideal place to start and plan any Namibian travel. Windhoek has had several names, many inspired by the hot water springs found in the area. Several opinions are offered for the origin of the present name, the most popular of these is that sometime before 1840 Jonker Afrikaner, a Nama leader, named the area Winterhoek, after the farm in South Africa where he was born. Windhoek, or windy corner, is a corruption of this name.

Meals are served in the restaurant or can be taken outside in the pool area. A breakfast buffet is served from 07h30 to 10h00. Lunch and dinner can also be ordered. The kitchen closes at 21h00. A decent selection of drinks are available in the bar which closes at 22h00. The Wi-Fi hotspot is located around the bar and poolside. The braai area offers guests the option to cook their own food on an open grill close to the main area.

Chill and relax on comfortable seats and sofa's around the bar and poolside, the perfect place to chat to other guests about their adventures and travel experiences. Escape the hot Namibian sunshine with a splash in the pool after your long road trip. Loungers set under shade and strategically placed hammocks add to the relaxing vibe of the hospitality areas. Late arrivals can check in after 21h00 to Urban Camp by prior arrangements.

Explorer's Delight Tents: These spacious tents are set under net shading.2 single or a double beds, a fan, electric blanket (winter only), mosquito net, hammock, chairs, bedside lamps. Towels and bedding are provided. Area rugs cover the wooden floor. Power is supplied from the national grid

Garden Tent: The Garden Tents are great value for money. They are equipped with 2 single beds and similar facilities to the Explorer's Delight Tents. Some of the Garden Tents have a mini-fridge and a hammock. These units are ideal for travellers without their own camping equipment who prefer a night or two under canvas.

Campsite: Pitch your own tent in a shaded site with a light, fireplace and allocated 220v power socket. Campers use the communal ablution blocks. Children from the ages 2 to 12 years of age camping in their own tents stay for free. These sites are ideal for individual travellers, a family or small group of between 1 to 6 campers. Sites for larger groups, rooftop tents, motor homes, trucks and caravans can be arranged.
