Safari court hotel

Many guests use the 4-star Safari Court Hotel in Windhoek to bookend the first or last night of their Namibian holiday. It is also in a convenient location for shopping, banking and medical facilities. The location is perfect for internal flights to and from Eros Airport.

NB. This hotel should not be confused with the 3-star Hotel Safari, although they are on the same site and share the same entrance way and some facilities.

There is a free hourly shuttle service into the Central Business District (CBD) and Maerua Mall. A local company recommended by the hotel also operate courtesy trips between the hotel and Hosea Kutako International Airport. Self-drive tourists, families and the business community are welcome at the Safari Court Hotel and Conference Centre.

Facilities at Safari Court include babysitting and child care, laundry/dry cleaning service, wireless Internet access, photocopy/fax and other administrative services, common access for wheelchairs, a well-lit parking area, complementary tea/coffee, a gift shop, laundry room and a safe at reception for valuables.

A new feature is the swimming pool, with pool bar and deck. Many guests make good use of this facility especially in the summer, (there's an indoor one as well) before heading back to a rather uninviting European winter. It is a good place to relax in and amongst the palm trees for all the family, and comfortable loungers, seating and sun-shades are provided. It is only open to hotel residents.

There are a number of restaurants and bars, including 'a la carte' luncheon and evening dining and buffet meals in the Acacia Restaurants. Carvery lovers should head to The Steakhouse, open only for dinner. Fare can also be ordered in The Palms Bar and pool bar, whilst The Captain’s Cabin, provides the perfect setting for VIP and private occasions only, seating up to 12 guests.

Accommodation at Safari Court Hotel is in 190 luxury rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, electric shaving plug (220 Volts), a bedroom with 2 ¾ beds/ sitting area and air-conditioning/heating with individual controls. A radio, direct dialling telephones, tea/coffee station, refrigerator, multi channel TV/Satellite TV (CNN, Deutsche Welle, TV5, RTP, Video) and hair-dryer are standard. Non-smoking rooms are available.

Another new development is the Oukolele Day Spa and Wellness Centre. (Oukolele is Oshiwambo for health, and how many of you knew that Spa means 'Sanus Per Aquam' or 'health through waters.') It offers a comprehensive, unisex, spa service and fitness centre, boasting state-of-the-art techno-gym equipment. After an arduous safari, or exhausting day around the city, pamper yourself with a selection of facial, massage and body therapies, a number of interesting wax treatments, or classic manicure and pedicure finishing touches.

There are also a number of spa and bridal packages, as well as specialized and signature treatments. The centres health and skin care therapists do not just spoil the ladies, there is a Men's Spa as well! Book early as treatments are by appointment only. Remember - 'we all need to service our bodies as well as the car!

The Conference Centre is the largest of it's kind in Namibia and offers up-to-date facilities and state-of-the-art technical conference equipment, supplied by an in-house technology company. In various venues, the centre can accommodate between 10 and 2,400 delegates. The grand Ballroom seats a maximum of 2,400 delegates in cinema style, 1,800 in conference style and 1,200 in banquet style. State functions and banquets are held here.

For smaller groups, the Grand Ballroom can be divided into 8 different venues, accommodating approximately 300 delegates in cinema style seating each. There are a number of breakaway rooms, seating smaller groups comfortably.

Extensive free parking is available on the premises, which is secured by access control to the hotel grounds. Airport transfers or car hire in Windhoek can be arranged.

Generally satisfying, although I suggest european tourists would prefer more african charm if the arrive in Windhoek, so they might be better of with a smaller lodges (e.g. Villa Verdi)

Comfortable and well placed to begin your trip on south of Namibia. Very kind check in and out. Rooms are large and cosy but the bathroom has to be remaked. Cooking is excellent, really.
