Acquired in 1937, Carl Werner List originally farmed the 12 000 hectare estate and eventually developed this private and intimate world into a household name in Namibia. You can enjoy the tranquility of Midgard Country Estate – the ideal setting for a family breakaway, a get-together with friends or to host a team-building event or wedding.
Midgard Country Estate offers 46 fully equipped rooms. Choose between one of our 35 standard rooms, 5 standard family rooms or 5 luxury rooms with views overlooking the swimming pools, gardens, courtyard or the mountains.
Midgard”, a word found in Old Norse, Middle English and High German languages, has varying meanings, but is popularly thought to mean “A paradise where the earth rises again, fertile and green, creating a protected world and a safe empire for the people”.
Join us for country-style home cuisine with a Namibian touch at Carl’s Dining Room and Terrace. Get together in our Carl’s Bar and Lounge while overlooking the sprawling landscaped gardens. Situated in a separate wing of the restaurant, Carl’s Bar and Lounge is often the heart of the lodge before and after dinner. Our Pool Bar & Terrace is open most weekends, whilst the TV Lounge & Pool Room show the latest sporting events.
