The desert grace

The Desert Grace is set just 60kms away from the towering dunes at Sossusvlei. This stunning, ultra modern, luxury lodge is an ideal location for self-drive and individual travellers who wish to enjoy a true Namibian holiday experience and introduction to the desert before heading on to one of Namibia's top tourist attractions.

Sossusvlei is a clay pan fed by the ephemeral Tsauchab River. This pan is set amongst a huge piles of sand known as star dunes. It is set in the central Namib Desert and lies within the Namib-Naukluft National Park. High, red sand dunes surround Sossusvlei which forms part of the sand sea that stretches just north of Luderitz to the Kuiseb River. Some of these dunes reach as high as 220m. Camelthorn trees and other vegetation are watered by infrequent floods of the Tsauchab River, which slowly soak into the underlying clay.

Guests at the desert grace can easily visit both Sossusvlei and the other clay pans in the area. The others are Dead Vlei, Hidden Vlei and Nara Vlei. A 60km tarred road runs along the Tsauchab valley, and access to the valley is from Sesriem. The road ends 4kms short of Sossusvlei, but 4x4 vehicles can go further. There is a shuttle transport service where the road ends or if visitors prefer, it is safe to walk.

All the rooms are luxuriously appointed with all modern amenities, including a private plunge pool. Scrumptious meals and a decent selection of wines and spirits are served in the dining room and bar at Desert Grace. Relax and unwind in the lounge which offers the opportunity to chat to fellow travellers about your day's activities and adventures.

Connect to complimentary Wi-Fi at reception when you can contact friends and families, keeping them up-to-date with exciting news about your current location and future plans. Other facilities include a laundry service, 24hr security, safe parking and mobile connectivity.
