Omatozu game farm

Omatozu Game Farm is located 100km north of Namibia's capital city Windhoek, and just 25km from the town of Okahandja. This central location means it is en-route to Waterberg Plateau and Namibia's main tourist attraction, Etosha National Park. This guest farm has easy access making it an ideal stop-over for self-drive tourists at the beginning or end of a Namibian holiday.

The location and relaxed atmosphere at Omatozu make it an idyllic place for those wanting to escape the rigours of modern life. The hosts Carla & Arthur are both very knowledgeable with regard to Namibian wildlife. Carla was one of the first woman trophy hunters in the country while Arthur is a retired vet who specialised in treating large game and was involved in cheetah research.

The entertainment area consists of a wooden deck with a bar, dining room and lounge. The braai area affords views of the farm dam with the opportunity to experience the incredible Namibian night sky around a camp fire. The cosy living room has an open fireplace, a popular winter night-time venue. Other facilities include a laundry service while dinner, breakfast and braai-packs are available on request.

Across the lawn from the main camp and nestled amongst thorn trees are 3 x luxury walk-in tents: En-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, electricity, bedside lights, plugs, linen and towels are standard.

Grazing land on the Omatozu Farm is gradually being reclaimed from alien invader bush. Wood is harvested to produce charcoal, a process that not only rehabilitates farmland but creates job opportunities and an export commodity.

Kudu, gemsbok, springbuck, impala, hartebeest, eland, zebra, giraffe, brown hyena, waterbuck and ostrich during the day and porcupine, ant-bear and honey badger at night. Cheetah and leopard frequent the farm, but sightings are very rare.

Omatozu Safari Camp offers a great opportunity to enjoy a boutique camping experience with the perfect mix of nature and serenity that will leave you feeling peaceful and recharged.

Beautiful; very kind. For our honeymoon they prepared champagne and chocolate, and, for dinner, they prepared a private table for us.

Very nice quiet place - perfect after a long travel. Good stopover to Etosha. Not sure there would be enough to do to stay another night.

We opted to stay at Omatozu to wind down after a whirlwind trip around Namibia. The lodge is very nice and we were the only guests. The dinner at Omatozu was one of the best we had in Namibia.

Omatozu is a good place to stop after a long flight to arrive in Windhoek. I was tired and certainly drive 400km to Etosha will be hard. To be honest for me was only a confortable place to rest, but the food was very good.

My favorite stop in Namibia! It's a beautiful property with plentiful wildlife. Accommodations are in permanent tents that include both a/c and a built-in bathroom. The food was outstanding. I can't say enough about how great it was!

Omatozu has only 3 tented bungalows, so in the main building everything is in one large room: dining, relaxing, talking and the bar. Very friendly Alfred seemed to be responsible for everything. Good dinner and breakfast, cosy atmosphere.

Nice place, friendly personnel, who did their best to please us (e.g. call us when there was some game). Some of the best food we got on the entire trip. However, not much to do. A walking trail or camp fire or pool table or petanque would have been welcome.
