Zambezi mubala lodge

Zambezi Mubala Lodge is situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River 40kms east of the northern Namibian town of Katima Mulilo. They offer first-class river fishing, birding, photography and boating. This is an ideal place to stay for self-drive tourists and families alike who seek exciting wildlife viewing opportunities combined with comfort and excellent service.

This lodge is an ideal stopover for 2 or 3 nights on the northern leg of your Namibian holiday. The lush savanna area of the region is bordered by the Kwando, Linyanti, Chobe and the Zambezi Rivers. Mubala means 'colour' in the local Silozi language, a reference to the harmonious colours of nature reflected on the Zambezi waters. Stay here on the way to or from Kasane, Victoria Falls and Livingstone before venturing into Chobe Natonal Park and further south to the world-famous Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve.

Modern-day explorers can also experience the thrills and excitement on the Zambezi on guided tours in purpose built boats. There is an exceptional variety of Namibian birdlife, game and vegetation to observe on an incredible labyrinth of waterways, floodplains and riverine forests.

You will be ferried to the lodge by boat. Enjoy the stunning surrounds on the way in as well as the beautiful setting of the lodge along the river banks. Scrumptious meals are served indoors or outside on communal or individual tables. The sparkling pool is the place to go to escape the hot Namibian afternoon sunshine, after a long drive or activity or to just cool off. Afterwards you can chill and relax on the shaded sun loungers, all set close to the water's edge.

Double Rooms: There are 17 spacious double rooms with an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, mosquito nets and a tea/coffee station. Enjoy stunning views of the going's on of the mighty Zambezi River from the comfort of your private veranda.

Family Cabins: The 4 family cabins have similar facilities to the double chalets.

The region is a birder's paradise. Over 450 species of birdlife have been recorded here, including Pel's owl, rock pratincole, African skimmers and Pygmy geese. This area is also the home to the colourful carmine bee-eaters. The colony's that congregate on the riverbanks are one of the largest in southern Africa.

A variety of activities are offered: 

Experience the water world of the Zambezi River on one of our relaxing boat cruises, ideal for birding/photography enthusiasts. Enjoy a guided walk to the bird colonies or explore the beautiful surround of the Lodge in your own time with minimal effort on an electric mountain bike. 

Join a guided fishing trip and catch species such as catfish, tilapia, nambwe and tigerfish. All fishing is done on a catch and release basis.

Each chalet is built on elevated stilts to accommodate the seasonal flooding of the great Chobe River, the natural border between the Camp and the Chobe National Park in Botswana. Home to a seasonal large animal migration, this is the wildlife enthusiast’s dream. Take a boating opportunity to glide through the waters, entering the wonderland that is the Zambezi. Overnight only 1 night on our tour to Victoria Falls. Nice campsite overlooking the massive Zambesi River. Peaceful and a must to see.
