Introduction: Manganite can be confused with magnetite only it can be distinguished by its jet black colour and lustrous sheen. It is one of the main ore minerals of manganese, occurring in low temperature veins and in manganese deposits.

Lustre: Sub-metallic, metallic.
Streak: Red-brown to black.
