Skeleton Shrimp

Introduction: The elongated and cylindrical body shape allows for distinctive leg positions of this species with the common name of skeleton shrimp (Caprella equilibra) being a perfect title. They can cling to algae or hydroids.

Distribution: Throughout Namibian waters including Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, Luderitz, Terrace Bay, Torra Bay and Henties Bay.

Diet: Plankton.

Colouration: Yellow markings and bands on a white body.

Breeding: Eggs hatch directly into adults.

Max size: 10 to 20mm.
