Spindrift Guest House
Walvis Bay - Namibia
Self-drive holiday-makers in Namibia visiting Walvis Bay looking for a reasonably priced bed and breakfast establishment, should seriously consider staying at Spindrift Guesthouse. This convenient location is only a minutes walk from the famous Lagoon, ideal for birders especially in the breeding season. Relaxation is high on the agenda at Spindrift and they pride themselves on a 'friendly and homely atmosphere'.
Spindrift is also the ideal coastal stopover to visit the Namib Naukluft Park, Damaraland and eventually on to Sossusvlei. The Welwitschia mirabilis, one of the rarest plants in the world, can be viewed near the Kuiseb and Swakop dry river beds. A decent selection of well-established bars and restaurants are a short distance away. Day trips and activities include a drive on to Pelican Point Peninsula or perhaps an organized 4x4 tour to Sandwich Harbour.
Relax and unwind in their well-kept garden, around the swimming pool and koi fish pond in this delightful and peaceful setting. This is the perfect opportunity to unwind between Namib Desert coastal explorations.
Other facilities include a guest lounge, pool table, wi-fi Internet connection, braai area and off-road secure parking. All of the rooms are non-smoking and there is a laundry service on request. Their art studio, run from within the guesthouses management team, benefits local artists.
Accommodation is in:
- Double Rooms: En-suite bathrooms, a TV and a tea/coffee station are standard. Some of the rooms that don't benefit from cross-wind ventilation are equipped with fans. All rooms have verandahs/balconies that overlook the beautiful garden.
- Family Room: There are 3 Family Rooms suitable for up to 4 persons. The facilities are similar to the Double Rooms as are the verandahs/balconies.
Breakfast is served between 07h00 and 10h00. Evening meals can be arranged in advance and the management team will be only too happy to recommend a nearby restaurant.
There are a wide variety of day tours and activities to occupy yourselves in Walvis Bay. Attractions in or around the town include birdwatching at the lagoon, golf, fishing and walking. The local museum and the wooden Rhenish Mission Church, (proclaimed a national monument on the 24th November 1972) are also worth a visit.
